Survivor:Samoa Recap 10/22/09 Russell goes Down

Survivor_Samoa_RussellThe relentless rain continued on tonight’s episode of Survivor : Samoa.  Both tribes looked for creative ways brave the elements but they all remained cold and miserable.

Evil Russell, on the Foa Foa Tribe, says he is happy to be some place miserable.  He said the first few days here it were too pretty, it was a place he wanted to take his family to for a vacation.  Now he says the horrible conditions are just making him stronger.

Chief Russell, on the Galu tribe, continues to push himself despite that fact that his tribe is all huddled in their very inadequate shelter.

Today’s challenge requires each tribe to strap one person in a large sphere.  That person will guide two blindfolded tribe members to push the sphere through a long course to a table maze.  Then the unblindfolded person will guide the rest of their blindfolded tribe as they navigate a ball through a maze.  For Foa Foa, Liz will be in the ball, pushing will be Russell and Jaison. For Galu, Laura is in the ball with Russell and Erik pushing.

The tribes were neck and neck for most of the race with Foa Foa taking a slight lead at the maze table.  This is when Chief Russell from Galu became disoriented and slumped over the maze before passing out.

Jeff immediately stopped the challenge and called in the medics to examine Chief Russell.  It was scary to watch as the medics revealed his dangerously low blood pressure.  Jeff ended the challenge, nobody wins the pizza, and both sides have to go to tribal council.  Russell’s condition was further evaluated but after he passed out again, they pulled him from the competition.

Thirteen people head over to Tribal Council, where Jeff announces that Chief Russell has been pulled out of the game.  As the tribes begin to converse, Evil Russell claims a “moral victory” for Foa Foa, since they were ahead, and that their tribe has never been stronger.  Erik wasn’t buying it, and vowed to bring it on in the next few challenges.

The tribal council ended when Jeff told them there would be no vote.  I think they all should have gotten some pizza.

Next week on Survivor Samoa: The men of Galu make Shambo a part of their group. Russell tells Monica that they will go to final two.
