Glee Recap 11/11 ‘Wheels’
Congratulations NY Yankees and welcome back Glee!!
It was Artie’s night on Glee. Most of tonight’s episode focused on Artie in his wheelchair and during the show he belted out a wonderful rendition of Billy Idol’s Dancin’ With Myself.
Will tries to get a handi-capable vehicle that’s able to transport him along with the rest of Glee to Sectionals. However Principal Figgins says it is not in the budget so Glee Club has a bake sale which amazingly raises $1,200. Will also requires Glee members to spend 3-hours a day in wheelchairs. At first, the cupcakes are a tough sell but with a little help from Puck the students can’t help but get the munchies.
Meanwhile, Quinn spends the majority of this episode bitching at Finn to get a job and give her money. Puck sees an opportunity to impress Quinn and prove he can be a provider by giving her $685 for a sonogram.
Now, let’s talk about the ultimate diva-off, Kurt vs. Rachel. The big power ballad for sectionals will be Defying Gravity from Wicked. Rachel and Kurt are thrilled. They both want it but Will gives it to Rachel because she’s got the powerhouse female voice. Kurt’s dad goes to bat for Kurt and goes to the school to protest his son not being able to audition for the song. Kurt gets his audition and he and Rachel compete for the song.
However, Kurt throws the audition after his dad gets a prank call that says ’Your son’s a F–.’ He tells his dad that he intentionally blundered because of a simple fact: “When I saw you, right after you got that call. And you were so hurt and so upset. It just killed me. I’m not saying I’m going to hide in the closet. I’m proud of who I am. I’m just saying that I love you more than being a star.”
Artie tries to take one for the team and offers to drive with his dad and give the money to the school to provide more handicap accessible ramps. However, Coach Sue writes a check and donates money for 3 new ramps for the school. Will is suspicious but it turns out Coach Sue surprises us again with her generous heart. In a very touching scene, she visits her sister in the hospital who is also handicapped.
The episode ends with a tightly choreographed wheelchair number to Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Proud Mary. Glee didn’t disappoint after the two week hiatus. What did you think of this week’s episode?
