Sarah Palin has officially announced on Friday (July 3) that she will be resigning as governor of Alaska.
Palin will serve as governor until July 26 before she hands the position over to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell.
“It hurts to make this choice but I’m doing what’s best for Alaska,” she said in speech from the backyard of her Wasilla home with husband Todd and children Piper, Bristol and Willow at her side. “You can effect change from the outside, and I can too.”
She also said that her year-old son Trig, who has Down syndrome, needs her at home more.
A press conference was held today at the LA Staples Center to announce the memorial plans for Michael Jackson that will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2009.
Ken Sunshine, the Jackson spokesman stated, “This service is all about the fans”.
It is the families wish to provide a worldwide feed so that everyone can see the memorial. The feed will be televised for free to all of the networks. 17,500 tickets are being made available to fans.
Fans have to register at Staplecenter.com. and can register up until tomorrow at 6PM. The 8,750 names will be chosen randomly on Sunday and 2 tickets per person will be provided. 11,000 tickets are going to be for the Staples Center and the other 6,000 tickets will be for a live feed at the Nokia Center. People will be notified on Sunday via e-mail they will be given a code and allowed to pick up their bracelets on Monday.
Jan Perry, the LA City Council, encouraged those without a ticket to the event to watch from the comfort of their own home.
